While Tustin Ave Veterinary Hospital did have a business relationship with a local pet store several years ago, we do not. Another veterinary hospital in the area serves their needs for the store. Of course, we welcome all pets and their owners, no matter where they come from, pet store, breeders, or private homes. But closest to our hearts are pets rescued from shelters, the streets, or homes where the previous owners can’t care for them anymore. All 3 of my pets are rescues ( one owner surrender, one from the shelter, and one I found in my planter while taking out the trash) and we have 2 rescues of our own at the hospital (Lucky pretty much does what he wants so I think in a way he adopted us so he really doesn’t count.) If you’ve adopted a pet from a rescue, we will give a complimentary examination within the first 72 hours of adoption, to make sure your new friend is healthy and also make sure to get the relationship on the right foot (or paw.) Taking on a rescued pet is a big commitment and for those with a big heart. If you are thinking of adopting a new pet into the family, please strongly consider a rescue instead of buying a pet. There are so many wonderful pets that need new loving homes. We are here to help.
