Pets around the world and here in Orange County have a tendency to feel what their owners are feeling. If you are sad then they are. Conversely, if you are happy then they are. This is because they can sense how you are feeling.
Keeping your pet happy is a great goal, and the first step is taking care of them. The next step is taking care of yourself. It may seem odd that taking care of yourself would help to take care of them, but it is true.
Give them treats, feed them, go for walks, play with them, bathe them, groom them, and have fun. This will not only keep them happy, but it can keep you happy too. Exercise helps to release endorphins which fuel happiness.
If you feel as though your pet suffers from separation anxiety or depression, then take them to the veterinarian. They may be able to help you with some ideas of how to help your pet.
Remember always that a happy owner equals a happy pet. If you are unhappy then do what you need to in order to raise your spirits. Here’s hoping you and your pet stay happy!
